Pedestrian Fatally Injured on River Road

The pedestrian fatally injured Saturday at 2:30 a.m. in the 5700 block of River Road is tentatively identified as a 52-year-old Nashville man.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, a 23-year-old Portland, Tennessee man, was traveling west on River Road when he struck the pedestrian who was reportedly lying in the roadway. The driver reported that he was unable to avoid him. The man died on the scene. The driver showed no signs of impairment. This area of River Road is on a hill, with a curve, and no streetlights.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will work to positively identify the pedestrian.
